Broadbridge Heath FC was founded in 1919 by local ex-members of the armed forces who had just returned from the 1914-18 Great War. In the very first season of competitive football, with only 12 registered players, the club won the Horsham & District Championship, and Challenge Cup.

In 1970/71, the League amalgamated with the West Sussex Football League with the Club joining Division Three. Promotion was won to Division Two the following season. Eight years later, following promotion from the Premier Division of the WSFL, Broadbridge Heath joined the Southern Counties Combination League, which at that time, was a feeder to the Sussex County League.

The SCCL amalgamated with the County League in 1983/84, with Broadbridge Heath becoming founder members of Division Three. The club moved to its new facilities at Wickhurst Lane in 1987 and won promotion to Division Two the following year. Since then the club has remained in senior football, and spent a season (1998/99) in Division One before relegation back to Division Two, where they have sustained a mid-table position. In 2006/07 the club came perilously close to dropping back into Intermediate football but, despite finishing in a relegation position were spared the drop into Division Three as only two clubs were eligible for promotion.

With a ground not really suited to watching football, and with Horsham and Horsham YMCA close by, low attendances have always been a problem, combined with the absence of any bar revenue. In fact, in 2006/07 Broadbridge Heath were officially the worst supported club in the entire County League. There have long been rumours casting doubt as to whether Broadbridge Heath can remain at the current council-owned ground for much longer although thus far these have proved ill-founded. Indeed, with a large development of approx 2,000 houses planned for the area in the next few years, the future of Broadbridge Heath FC, in their own facilities away from the Leisure Centre, is now a realistic possibility, guaranteeing the future of this very friendly club.

Description of ground
From 1973 until 1987 Broadbridge Heath FC played at the old Army Camp in Wickhurst Lane. However, then Tesco purchased the land for development of a new superstore and Leisure Centre, the club temporarily relocated before moving into much-improved facilities at the Leisure Centre in 1987.

The playing surface at Wickhurst Lane is well cared-for and regarded as one of the finest in the County. A large seated stand runs along the near touchline, however due to the presence of a running track and the poor rake of the seating, the view is far from ideal with spectators left somewhat remote from the action. For those happy to stand when the weather is good, a much better view can be gained by walking around the perimeter of the running track and standing on the grass bank that runs along the opposite touchline, where the dugouts are also located.

There is comfortable bar and dining area within the stand, although this is not run by the club. There is, as one would expect, ample parking.
