Ifield Edwards badgeIfield Edwards FC was formed in June 2003, following an amalgamation between Ifield FC and Edward Sports FC.

Ifield FC were formed as Sun Wanderers in 1949 and played in the Redhill League. During the 1970s it became obvious that in order for the club to progress they would need to improve their facilities and have access to their own clubhouse. A search began for a suitable location and the old Crawley Tennis Club was purchased with a view to erecting it on either Ifield Green or Rusper Road playing fields. At the same time Ifield CC were looking to improve the Cricket Club Pavilion on Ifield Green and discussions took place between the Cricket and Football clubs with a view to sharing facilities and resources. During 1983 Ifield Sports Club was formed as an umbrella organisation for the two clubs and work started on rebuilding the clubhouse.

Ifield FC joined Division Three of the Sussex County League in 1984. In 1987/88 they finished runners-up to Midway, and twice finished as champions, in 1990/91 and 1995/96. However, on all three occasions the club was unable to take its place in senior football due to their limited facilites at the municipally-owned Ilfield Sports & Social Club in Rusper Road.

Edward Sports FC was formed in 1954 following the migration of Edward High Vacuum Ltd to Crawley New Town and the development of the Sports and Social Club ground and facilities at London Road. In 1991, Edward Sports and Social Club moved to their present location at Ifield Green following their relocation from London Road. The club had a brief spell in the County League between 1993 and 1995, and were relegated at the end of the 1994/95 season after finishing bottom of Division Three.

Ifield Edwards begain their first season in County League Division Three amongst the favourites for the 2003/04 title, only to miss out the runners-up spot by one place, with St. Francis Rangers instead winning promotion. By comparison mid-table finishes the past three seasons have been a little disappointing.

Description of ground
Edward Sports FC were briefly members of the County League for two seasons until their relegation at the end of the 1994/95 season. Their well-maintained ground however, is now hosting County League football once again, following amalgamation with near neighbours Ifield.

When the club was first promoted the playing area was on the far side of the Sports Ground. In the past couple of seasons however, the pitch which is fully railed has been moved closer to the large clubhouse, and new dugouts erected. The clubhouse has an overhang to provide some shelter, although there are plans for further cover, probably behind the near goal, and also floodlights.

There is plentiful car parking available.
