Rottingdean badgeRottingdean Village FC was previously Falcons FC until a name change in 1989, one season after joining Division Three of the Sussex County League, where they spent four seasons, finishing fifth in 1988/89. However, Rottingdean left the League at the end of the 1991/92 season after finishing 13th of 14.

The club finished as runners-up of the Brighton & District League in 2004/05 but just missed out on promotion to the Sussex County League because the necessary ground improvements were not completed in time. They no mistake in 2005/06 however, and were promoted as champions. Season 2006/07 saw a very encouraging 4th place finish on completion of their first campaign back in the County League.

Description of ground
Although the official address might conjure up images of a bland municipal setting, Rottingdean's Falmer Road home is arguably one of the most scenic grounds in the county, albeit possibly not one for a visit in mid-winter unless absolutely necessary! The playing area is on an elevated plateau, on the far side of the cricket pitch, with open fields stretching out beyond. As can be seen from the more recent photographs, the pitch is now fully railed, and there are dugouts on either touchline, although the old breezeblock dugouts are supposedly disused. A steep bank at the far end of the pitch affords a fine view, whilst Beacon Mill, which dates from 1802 and is pictured on the Club badge, is another interesting feature.

Directions
Traveling east along the A259 from Brighton, turn left at the traffic lights at Rottingdean (right if approaching from the east). Follow the one-way system until entering Falmer Road. The entrance to the ground is on the right, shortly after the turning for Bazehill Road. The football pitch is at the far end, beyond the cricket club.

From Falmer & Woodingdean (from the A27) the entrance to the ground is the next turning on the left, shortly after passing Meadow Parade shops on the right.

Nearest railway station: Brighton (3 miles).
